Russia Withdraws Military Equipment from Batumi

A train of 35 carriages with Russian military equipment left the military base in Batumi for the Russian Federation via Azerbaijan on May 15, the Georgian Defense Ministry said.


46 MT-LB tracked prime-movers, five BTR-80 armored personnel carriers and 200 tons of howitzer shells were withdrawn from the base.


The withdrawal process is expected to be completed by the end of 2008.
