Parliament to Discuss Budgetary Amendments

Parliamentary factions and committees will debate government amendmants to the budget, which envisage an increase in revenue by GEL 623 million (approximately USD 368 million), and expenditure by GEL 641 million (approximately 379 million).

According to the draft amendments, which have already been submitted to Parliament for consideration, the additional funds will be directed to the same priority spheres as outlined in the 2007 budget.

The increase in expenditure was made possible as a result of tax and non-tax revenues.

Opposition parliamentarians have already criticised the amendments as non-transparent.
