Russian Officials Visit Tskhinvali

A Russian governmental delegation led by prime ministerial aide Gennady Bukaev held talks with the prime minister of breakaway South Ossetia, Yuri Morozov, in Tskhinvali on April 25, the South Ossetian Press and Information Committee reported.

The visit aims at assessing the effectiveness of Russia?s assistance to South Ossetia. As a result of a donors? conference in Brussels last June, Russia allocated three million Euro to South Ossetia, but insisted it would spend it at its own discretion. Other donors pledged seven million Euro on implementing various rehabilitation projects in the breakaway region.

?Unfortunately, the results of the Brussels conference have not been reflected in concrete action. The only country which invested money is the Russian Federation? This assistance was very important and timely and it went into  the reconstruction, modernization and restoration of major social facilities,? the South Ossetian Press and Information Committee quoted Morozov as saying.

The Russian delegation will stay in Tskhinvali for two days.
