Labor Party Calls for Nation-Wide Strike

Leader of Georgia’s Labor Party Shalva Natelashvili called for a nation-wide strike on April 17 so as to force the resignation of President Saakashvili and the dissolution of Parliament.

?The authorities have done their best to deprive us of our right to life and existence. We demand the resignation of the Georgian President and the dissolution of Parliament, because they have failed to change anything for the better,? Natelashvili said at a news briefing on April 13.

He called on the citizens of Georgia to join the strike from 9 a.m. to 12 a.m. on April 17

?This will be a rehearsal for our national consolidation on the eve of those big battles, which are awaiting us and which will result in the people?s victory,? Natelashvili added.
