Georgian and Russian officials met at the Georgian Defense Ministry on March 23 to coordinate plans for the withdrawal of Russian military personnel from bases in Georgia in 2007, the Georgian Defense Ministry has reported.
According to the withdrawal schedule, the Akhalkalaki military base will be closed down by autumn. Military equipment will be withdrawn throughout the year from the Russian military base in Batumi.
The complete withdrawal of all Russian forces is expected to be completed by the end of 2008.
