A European Union delegation including Peter Semneby, the EU special envoy to the South Caucasus, and Hugues Mingarelli, the European Commission Director for Eastern Europe, South Caucasus and Central Asia, will arrive in Sokhumi on January 17 to hold talks with the Abkhaz leadership, Apsnipress news agency reported.
Meetings with representatives of Sokhumi-based non-governmental organizations are also planned during the visit, according to the report.
EU officials visited Tskhinvali and held talks with the breakaway South Ossetian leadership on January 16.
