Georgian Negotiator Meets S.Ossetian ‘Alternative Leader’

Georgian State Minister for Conflict Resolution Issues Merab Antadze met on December 27 with Dimitri Sanakoev, the Tbilisi-backed self-imposed leader of breakaway South Ossetia who is based in the Georgian village of Kurta in the conflict zone.

The Georgian side’s cooperation with Sanakoev has angered the authorities in Tskhinvali and Moscow, but Merab Antadze says that talks will be held with all forces in the region that “represent the interests of the local population.”
