EU Grants ?2 Million for Abkhaz Conflict Victims

The European Commission has approved an EUR 2 million humanitarian aid package to support the most vulnerable people affected by the unresolved conflict in breakaway Abkhazia, according to a press release issued by the EU on December 14.


The beneficiaries include internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Georgia as well as returnees and vulnerable groups in breakaway Abkhazia.


Assistance to vulnerable groups will be provided in the following sectors: food, food security projects and shelter.


Projects will be implemented by the Commission?s operational partners such as the International Committee of the Red Cross and international non-governmental organizations.
