NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer called for restraint and urged Russia to lift sanctions imposed on Georgia, Reuters reported.
“It is important for all parties, for the two parties in fact, to show restraint, moderation and de-escalation? I hope that in this framework it will also be possible that some of the measures that had been taken in this conflict by the Russian Federation could be lifted,” Jaap de Hoop Scheffer said after talks with the Russian Defense Minister Sergey Ivanov in Moscow on October 26.
