UNOMIG to Probe Kodori Shelling
The United Nations Observer Mission in Georgia (UNOMIG) has decided to launch an investigation on a rocket attack in the vicinity of the village of Azhara in the upper Kodori gorge, UNOMIG said in a press release issued on October 25.
?This is in line with UNOMIG?s mandate to investigate, at the request of either party or the CIS peacekeeping force or on its own initiative reported or alleged violations of the [Agreement on a Ceasefire and Separation of Forces (1994)]?, the press release reads.
The Mission also recalled the recent UN Security Council Resolution on the situation in Georgia, which urges the non-use of violence, confidence building and the strict observance of the ceasefire agreement.
