Abkhazia Sets Budgetary Target

Revenues in a 2007 draft budget for breakaway Abkhazia are set at 1,2 billion Russian rubles (about USD 44,5 million), according to the Abkhaz news agency Apsnipress.


The figure is 33% more than revenues in the 2006 budget. Expenditures and other figures are not reported.


Apsnipress reported that the 2007 budgetary targets were discussed during a meeting between Abkhaz leader Sergey Bagapsh and other government members on October 17.


According to the report, authorities in the breakaway region plan to increase salaries of state agency employees by 30% starting from January, 2007.
