Russian MFA: No Space in Putin’s CIS Schedule for Talks with Saakashvili

President Putin’s tight schedule made it impossible to arrange face-to-face talks with President Saakashvili on a sideline of an informal summit of the CIS leaders in Moscow, the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Mikhail Kaminin said on July 21.

“This kind of meeting with President Saakashvili, as we think, can take place in the future,” Kaminin added.

Georgian Parliamentary Chairperson Nino Burjanadze said on July 21 that the meeting did not took place, “because the Georgian President had very concrete proposals” over conflict resolution issues.

“These proposals are very realistic and very fair, which will contribute positively to the conflict resolution. I hope this meeting will take place in the future,” Burjanadze told reporters.
