Saakashvili Speaks of Relations with Russia

Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili reiterated on June 14 that Georgia wants to make friends with Russia, but ?this should not occur at the expense of Georgia?s interests.?

?We want to make friends with everyone, including Russia, because Russia is our partner and neighbor, but friendship should be based on the taking into account our national interests and our dignity. I am sure that we will achieve this,? Saakashvili said while visiting the Dusheti district in the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region of northern Georgia after arriving from St. Petersburg.

Saakashvili also said that the talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin were extremely important, since ?all the vital issues relating to our country were discussed.?
