Vice-Premier of breakaway Abkhazia Leonid Lakerbaia said on June 9 that Abkhazia should not rely on Kosovo and Montenegro precedents in its aspiration towards international recognition, Abkhaz news agency Apsnipress reported.
?There is no reason to permanently draw parallels between Abkhazia and Kosovo, or Montenegro and to count on others? precedents. We should create our own precedent? especially when the Abkhaz people has already made a choice in favor of independence,? Lakerbaia said at a news conference in Sokhumi.
Lakerbaia has recently visited Britain and the United States. Lakerbaia said that during the trip, which was organized by the British organization Reconciliation Resources, he has met with U.S. and British officials and analysts.
