Wine-Drinking Outside Russian Embassy

A small group of Georgians and foreigners in Georgia hosted a “supra” – a Georgian traditional feast which is commonly distinguished by its use of wine – outside the Russian embassy in Tbilisi on April 27 in support of Georgian wine.

Russia banned the import of Georgian wines on March 27, citing that these wines contained pesticides.

The participants outside the Russian embassy, who described themselves as the “World Association of Wine Lovers,” said that wine counterfeiters and their activities should be eradicated, but this can not be achieved through “aggressive and hostile legislation.”
