Parliamentary Chairperson Nino Burjanadze called on the opposition lawmakers for constructive cooperation, as parliamentarians from the opposition factions were absent at a session of the Parliamentary Bureau – the body which develops the Parliament’s agenda – on April 3.
Opposition lawmakers from the New Rights, Republican and Conservative parties announced on March 31 that they will boycott the parliamentary session to protest a decision by the legislative body to strip Valeri Gelashvili, of the Republican Party, of his MP credentials over suspected business activities.
“The Parliament should work constructively… that means consultations [between the opposition and parliamentary majority],” Nino Burjanadze said and added that she has not yet received any official notification from the opposition lawmakers about their intention to boycott the parliamentary sessions.
