Saakashvili Warns S.Ossetian Militiamen, Vows to Protect Georgian Villages

President Saakashvili said on November 11 that the Georgian state is capable of ensuring security for the Georgian villages in the South Ossetian conflict zone. He was speaking at the opening ceremony of a regional department of the Interior Ministry?s special task unit in the village of Karaleti, less than 30 kilometers away from the South Ossetian capital Tskhinvali.

?We are near Tskhinvali, near our gorges [referring to the Didi and Patara Liakhvi gorges in South Ossetian where the Georgian villages are located] and I want to tell the residents of our gorges: ‘do not be afraid of anything. The Georgian State defends your security.’ And I want to warn armed bandits, who are not far from here – few kilometers: every one of you will be held responsible. Georgia is not as it used to be, it is a State capable of protecting its citizens,? Saakashvili said.
