Russian Defense Minister Urges for Funds for Bases’ Withdrawal

Speaking at the government’s session on June 16 Russian Defense Minister Sergey Ivanov asked the Russian Finance Ministry to consider including funding necessary for the withdrawal of Russian military bases from Georgia in Russia’s state budget for the next three years, RIA Novosti and Interfax news agencies reported.


Ivanov said that the withdrawal process, which should end in the course of 2008, will be an expensive operation, but he did not specify the amount of money needed for this process.
