Opposition Rally Turns Into Fist-Fight

While U.S. President George Bush was speaking in front of thousands of Georgians gathered on Freedom Square, a small group of opposition Labor Party activists were rallying a couple of kilometers away, on  Republic Square in Tbilisi on May 10.

The protest rally, which was held under the slogan ?Welcome Bush ? Down with Dictator Saakashvili,? was marred by a clash which occurred between the protesters and an unknown group of people described by the Labor Party as ruling National Movement party activists.

The Labor Party announced that this incident was ?a provocation? triggered by National Movement party activists.

As a result of this clash, which resulted in minor injuries for at least one opposition activist, the protest rally was suspended.
