Burjanadze Urges EU for Border Monitors

Georgian Parliamentary Chairperson Nino Burjanadze, who will meet EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana on April 12, in Brussels said in an interview with Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) that the European Union should not leave Georgia ?tete-a-tete with Russia in a very difficult situation.?

Georgian is urging the European Union to send observers to the Russo-Georgian border after Russia vetoed the OSCE?s Border Monitoring Operation in December, 2004. Nino Burjanadze also said in the April 11 interview that Georgia is now looking to the EU to take over the border monitoring mission, as Russia has no say in the EU?s decisions.
