Gia Getsadze, Governor of the Imereti region, which is in western Georgia, was appointed Deputy Interior Minister. President Saakashvili has not yet appointed a new Governor.
Gia Getsadze previously served as Deputy Interior Minister before his appointment as Imereti Governor last September.
