Giorgi Baramidze, the State Minister for Euro-Atlantic Integration Issues, said that “none of the versions [of the death] should be ruled out” before the investigation into the cause of late Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania’s death is over.
Giorgi Baramidze, who was one of Zhvania’s closest allies, said, while speaking on the Tbilisi-based 202 television’s talk show on March 28, that the investigation into this “difficult case” requires time, “but this investigation should not be dragged out forever.”
“We, the closest friends of Zurab Zhvania and his family, are assisting the investigators, as we know much detailed information regarding Zurab… I can not speak of one particular possible reason behind the death; but in the process of investigation none of the versions should be ruled out,” he said.
Officials say that Zurab Zhvania died of carbon monoxide poisoning caused by a faulty gas heating devise which was installed in the apartment where Zhvania’s dead body was found on February 3.
In an interview to the Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) Georgian service on March 29 Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Nogaideli, who was also one of Zhvania’s closest allies, said that “no new detail has been unveiled during the investigation yet.”
