Zurab Tchiaberashvili: Tbilisi’s new Mayor 
and former Chairman of the CEC.
Former Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Zurab Tchiaberashvili unexpectedly announced on April 19 that he resigns, after President Saakashvili appointed him as Mayor of the capital city Tbilisi. Civil Georgia spoke with Zurab Tchiaberashvili on April 18, after the CEC approved final vote tally of the March 28 parliamentary elections. 

Zurab Tchiaberashvili, 32, was appointed as the Chairman of the Central Election Commission last November. Before appointment he was running election observer NGO.
