Georgia to Dispatch 500 More Soldiers to Iraq

Georgia will send 500 soldiers to Iraq by the summer 2004, U.S. ambassador to Tbilisi Richard Miles said on December 13.

Troops will join detachment of 70 mine-clearing experts and doctors who were sent to Iraq in August and are stationed in the town of Tikrit.

During a graduate ceremony for a Georgian battalion trained by American military instructors under the U.S.-funded USD 64-million Train-and-Equip program Miles thanked Georgia for the contribution in Iraq.
