Shevardnadze Says Georgia to Access NATO in Couple of Years

(Tbilisi, Civil Georgia, December 11, 2002) – President Shevardnadze stated at the government’s meeting today that Georgia would join the NATO in 2-3 years.

He emphasized, “Russia is not against Georgia’s accession into NATO anymore.”

At the NATO summit in Prague in November Georgian President made an official bid for the NATO accession.
