No Additional Forces will Be Deployed in Pankisi

(Tbilisi, January 30, Civil Georgia) – Decision concerning deployment of additional troops in Pankisi gorge, where the law enforcement agencies pass special operations to crackdown criminals, is not taken so far, Internal Affairs Minister Koba Narchemashvili stated on January 30.

On January 28 Narchemashvili told the protesters in Akhmeta district that the additional forces of Internal Affairs Ministry would be dispatched in Pankisi gorge.

Protest rallies continue in Akhmeta district, where Pankisi gorge is located, demanding form the law enforcers to pass drastic measures to eliminate criminals activity in gorge and release of two abducted Georgian citizens detained in Pankisi.
